Getting Help
The following is a list of how to get immediate help for postnatal depression:-

See your Doctor
See your Health Visitor
See a Breastfeeding Counselor (if feeding related)
Call us on 238514
See a trained counselor (we have contact numbers)
Talk to a friend or relative to help begin the healing process

There are measures that you can take to help yourself if you are suffering from postnatal depression:-

Make sure that you are eating a healthy balanced diet, not missing meals, and not snacking on high fat/sugar food.
Slow down, ask for and accept help - don't expect too much from yourself.
Housework may have to take a back seat for a while until you are feeling better.
Start gentle exercise classes such as swimming/aquafit/yoga
Arrange for a meal out with friends or partner.
Have a complementary therapy treatment.
Have a pampering session at a beauty salon.
Get lots of fresh air.
Cut down on alcohol.
Now and then take a break to ask someone you trust to care for your child/children, even if it is for just 1 hour.
